pirates & church

Sorry I've been slacking, grad school takes priority.  but that's all done for now.  This happened a few weeks ago, but it is a great story.  This was a conversation on the way back from Easter mass:

NCJ:  I saw a guy today with an eye patch.  I wonder what happened?
me: Maybe he was hurt, or is blind in that eye. 
NCJ: yeah, or maybe he had a sight problem.
me:  Did he say arrrggghhh when you walked by?  Maybe he was a pirate.
NCJ: (without hesitating) No, he probably wasn't a pirate.  Pirates don't go to church.
me: (holding back laughter) why not?
NCJ:  I don't know, do they?  Maybe cause they're bad.

This continued on for the rest of the ride home, with an in depth discussion on why pirates should go to church.  I never knew I could have such a theological conversation about pirates.

BTW, this has been followed up with the song Talk Like a Pirate Day," which we get a good chuckle from.
